问题1:When antennas are moved, they can become part of the scatterers in the channel, would that mess up channel estimation if conventional approaches are used?
张瑞教授回复:Channel varies continuously in space and even slight antenna movement may cause significant received power variation. However, the actual power depends on the antenna aperture as well as its radiation pattern. In that simulation presented, it is assumed that the antenna aperture is small (as compared to half wavelength) and its gain is isotropic, and thus its received power is assumed to be proportional to the channel gain at its central point.
问题3:张老师您好,很感谢您的报告,自己有很多收获,但通过阅读您有关MA的文章,有两个问题希望得到解答:1.我通过看文献发现,现有的MA的阵列都集中在小规模,想问问老师这个可以扩展大规模的阵列吗?或者超大规模的阵列吗?目前集中在小规模天线是因为大规模之后的成本太高吗?2.目前移动天线的设计上,对于独立的MA来说,是通过电机控制移动吗?电机是安装在每个天线的后方吗?其实MA带来的可观增益,也是通过增加机械复杂度和机械电机成本换来的,那目前有相关电机cost和增益 trade off的相关研究吗?
张瑞教授回复:Yes, MA can be extended to massive MIMO, but the key idea of MAs is that given the total number of antennas, enabling movement of antennas can enhance the performance, regardless of the number of antennas. 2. There are various ways to move antenna, such as motors, MEMS, in practice. Please refer to my presentation slides for details.
张瑞教授回复:The gain of MAs for massive MIMO still exist, and the movement cost can be reduced if surface of antennas is moved based on statistical CSI. Please refer to 6DMA in my presentation slides. MA can improve sensing and ISAC performance for low mobility targets, but how to make it work for high mobility target is an open and challenging problem.
